Biography

William was born in 1808/09 possibly in Green County, Kentucky. He stated on several census forms that he was born in Kentucky. His parents, Michael Luttrell and Susanna Shelton, were in Green County, Kentucky at the time of the 1800 census. By 1822, they were living in Jackson County, Alabama. It is uncertain when they left Kentucky for Alabama.

William died sometime after 1880. He is last found in records on the 1880 census in Omega, Marion County, Illinois.

Marriages & Children

William married three times. His first wife was Mary Minerva Shelton, daughter of Haman L. Shelton. They married about 1829 in Marion County, Illinois. Known children include:

  3. Matilda Luttrell, 1838-1879
  4. James W Luttrell, 1840-1923

William married second Catherine B Crutchfield on 5 February 1864 in Marion County, Illinois. They had one known son. William and Katie Crutchfield are named as parents in the death record of:

  1. George Andrew Luttrell, 1865-1933[1]

William married third Parthena (Keele) Middleton on 18 December 1879 in Foxville, Marion County, Illinois. This was Parthena's second marriage; they had no children.[2]
