Biography

John was born in 1839 to Samuel Lutz and Sarah Meyers. ^{[1] [2]} John Lutz married Sarah Garber in 1865. ^[3] By 1870, the family was living in Iowa. ^[4] The family continued in Iowa through at least 1880. ^[5] In 1900 the family was in Ogle County, Illinois. ^[6] In 1920, there is an unusual census entry in Oak Park, Cook County Illinois, that appears to be this family. The entries bear only the surname "Lutz," no given names. The first entry is a male described as being born in Pennsylvania, as married, and as head of the family. The man lives with his wife and an unmarried daughter. In the space where other information is supposed to be recorded the census taker writes, "Gone to Florida." The enumeration was done on January 12th. ^[7] In 1930, John's wife Sarah is living in Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois with her unmarried daughter Violet. She is widowed. ^[8] John Myers Lutz died in Florida in 1929. ^[9]
