Biography

Catherine may have been born around 1756 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but this needs to be confirmed with primary sources. She first married the Reverend Hans Michael Traut about 1779.[citation needed] Reverend Traut died in 1780.[1] Next, she married John Mefford around 1781 or 1782.[2][3]

Catherine and John were the parents of:[citation needed]

Catherine/1782 (Mrs John Fightmaster) Mary Elizabeth/1784 (Mrs Jonathan Huling) Rebecca/1786 (Mrs Frederick Hockersmith) Benjamin/1788 m. Frances Witherspoon Sarah (Mefford) Sams (abt.1789-abt.1874)

By 1793, the family was living in Scott County, Kentucky.[4] After Michael's death in 1796, Catherine married Jacob Kiger in Harrison County, Kentucky.[5]

Catherine died in 1804 in Harrison County and was buried in Antioch Cemetery.[citation needed]
