Disputed Identity and AssociationsIdentity. The profile of Elizabeth Lynde aka Swindells Green combines elements of what seem three different Elizabeths.
The death information reported is otherwise that of Elizabeth (_____) Green,[1] second wife of the Massachusetts Bay immigrant, Thomas Green (1599/1600-1667), son of William. The immigrant Thomas Green died at Malden, 1667,[2] leaving a will dated 12 November 1667.[3]
The marriage information is, at least in part, attributable to Elizabeth Swindells, a spinster, who married at Prestbury, Cheshire, England, 5 July 1627, John Greene, by license dated 26 June 1627.[4][5][6][7]
Then also various claimed information about an "Elizabeth Lynde," which refers to birth, marriage/spouse and possible parentage notions, some of which seems confused and none of which has been supported by historical records.
Associations. She was reported the wife of Massachusetts Bay immigrant Thomas Green (1599/1600-1667), but her husband was described as different Thomas Green. Elizabeth Lynde's husband was described as someone baptized at Herfordshire, 1600, son of John Greene Sr. (1575-) and Ann Almey (Scargell) Greene (1579-1609). By contrast, the immigrant Thomas Green was baptized Toppesfield, Essex, 1599/1600, the son of William.[8][9][10]
Elizabeth Lynde was born abt 1607 Prestbury, Chester, England[citation needed]
Research Notes
A prior version of this profile included "She died 22 AUG 1658 Malden, Massachusetts (Middlesex) and was buried 1658 Malden, Middlesex, Massachusetts." August 1658 is the recorded death of Elizabeth, the wife of immigrant Thomas Green (Green-133), not shown to have been Elizabeth Lynde.
A prior version of this profile included, "She married Thomas Greene 26 JUN 1627 Hertfordshire, England," citing U.S. and Int. Marriage Records, which is described as a "collection of records was extracted from a variety of sources including family group sheets and electronic databases ... derived from an array of materials including pedigree charts, family history articles, querie." The source actually reports three versions of the marriage, (1) Elizabeth Lynde b. 1607 to Thomas Greene b. 1599 married 1627; (2) Elizabeth Lynde b. 1607 to Thomas Greene b. 1606 married 1627; (3) Elizabeth Lynde b. 1608 to Thomas Greene b. 1606 no date recorded

Page 260: "Weddings, 1627. July 5, John Greene and Elizabeth Swindells"
The date being the 5th may be a typographical error. It specifically reads "vo" (the 5th), but it appears between weddings occurring on the "xvjo" (the 16th) and "xviijo" (the 18th). Therefore, the correct date is probably "xvijo" (the 17th). All the other weddings on this page appear in chronological order.

Unknown-581419 and Lynde-455 appear to represent the same person because: Working to undo the mistakes made in the past couple days... check out the changes history before changing these profiles in the future. This Elizabeth Lynde profile was created after merging her original profile with another Elizabeth (Newman) Green profile by mistake. Unknown-581419 was the original Elizabeth Lynde profile. She was separated from her Children and they belong to the Lynde-455 person newly created in error. Correct Spouse: Green-133.
