Martha married Euphrates Cowart 10 May 1878[3] and made a home back in Tattnall County. She died on 27 January 1906 from trichinosis food poisoning[4][5]. The entire family was affected, daughter Susie dying about the same time as her mother, husband Euphrates 'Fred' dying 3 February, with daughters Effie and Vela dying shortly thereafter. She was laid to rest in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery, where her broken but legible gravestone remains.[6]
