Henry was named as a son of William Lynn in William's will dated 9 December 1784. His bequest consisted of two parts. First was a share of his father's personal estate equal to the shares bequeathed his sisters Sarah and Hannah. Second was a tract of land in Rowan County whereon his father then lived.
On 5 December 1796, Henry Linn applied for a marriage license in Rowan County, but his bride's name was not recorded on the marriage bond. He has not turned up in Rowan County in either the 1800 or 1810 census with either spelling of his family name.
