Joshua Lyon was one of the early settlers in Naples, Ontario County, New York. According to an online town history, the first settlers arrived in February 1789, and Alanson Lyon, Simeon Lyon, Jr., and Joshua Lyon arrived in late 1789 or 1790.[4] This date is not consistent with records that indicate that Alanson was in Princeton, Massachusetts, in 1790 and probably later. Nevertheless, Alanson, "Simon," and Joshua Lyon were among the first landowners in Naples (then known by the name Middletown).[5]
