Biography

Emanuel Lyon, born in SC, served for many years as the Sheriff of Polk County, GA, after being elected in January 1858. Later, he moved a few miles north to the Cave Spring area in adjacent Floyd County. He married Delila Howard, and after her death, married Mary Montgomery in Floyd County, on August 5, 1868. Many researchers blend both wives into one person, for no valid reason.

He had to rebuild his Floyd County property in the Cave Spring area after a fire early in 1870 destroyed his house, other buildings, and destroyed most of his household possessions.

Lyon-7073 and Lyon-3764 appear to represent the same person because: The 2 profiles are definitely the same person, who married Delilah Howard and lived most of his life in NW Georgia. He was Sheriff of Floyd County.
