Fanny Lyon[1] was baptised in 1849 at Warialda[2].
Between 1852 and 1859, Fanny and her family lived in Allyn River, NSW. They then moved to "Bow Hill" in Wingham, NSW, where Fanny lived until she was married in 1872 at the age of 22.
Fanny married James Jarden Herkes (1843-1894), son of Robert Herkes (1804-1860) and Catherine Steel (1803-1870), at 'Walton', Marlee on 8th May, 1872, the marriage registered at Manning River[3].
They had children:
Fanny celebrated her 100th birthday on November 26, 1949, with a party at Oddfellows' Hall in Wingham. She received messages from the King and Queen of England, as well as the Governor-General and Mrs. McKell. Fanny celebrated her 103rd birthday at the home of her daughter, Edith, in Failford on November 20, 1952. She passed away at the age of 104 at Nabiac Hospital and was buried in Wingham General Cemetery on June 10, 1954.[4]
