Marriage
2) Circa 1845-47 probably in Texas- no record found. Dr. James and his new wife, Eliza Jane and 2 daughters lived in San Antonio Texas just less than a mile from The Alamo. His daughter Eliza was born 10 years after the Battle. Dr. James was very involved in the Legislation, he was a member of the Congress. He served 2 terms as Mayor Post-War, Civil War.
After the war, Civil War that is, San Antonio prospered as a center of the cattle culture. Anglo Americans learned the Spanish and Mexican techniques of herding cattle on horseback, creating a new generation of cowboys. The major cattle trails for driving stock to markets and railroads, including Chisholm Trail, began in San Antonio. The business promoter "Bet a Million" Gates chose San Antonio to demonstrate the value of his barbed wire in the herding of cattle. In 1876 he fenced off Alamo Plaza with the new invention and had cowboys drive a herd of cattle into the wire. When the wire held the cattle, many of the ranchers in attendance quickly placed orders for the new product. San Antonio was crucial during both the beginning and end of the open-range period in American ranching culture.

Research Notes
"Marriage #2 for James Harvey Lyons was Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane Hodges Find A Grave: Memorial #15792466
whom he married ca 1845/1846.
In the 1850 census James Harvey Lyons is listed as a Doctor living with his wife Eliza and their two daughters Eliza Jane "Lida" Lyons (1847-1921) and Lucy "Letitia" Lyons (1849-1925).
Eliza Lyons married John Atkinson and had at least 9 known children;
Lucy Lyons married Rufus R. Resseguie (Rufus predeceased Lucy in 1919, and Lucy died in 1925 Lamoni, Decatur, Iowa and her probate can be found in the Decatur, Iowa, Wills and Probate Records, 1758-1997 indexed for Lucy Lyons Resseguie). No children are mentioned in the probate (but rather sister, nieces, etc.), so it is assumed there were no children born to the union of Rufus & Lucy.
Marriage #3 for J. H. Lyons (James Harvey Lyons) (after his 2nd wife died in 1859) is found marrying an Isabella (Belle) Cotton on 31 Oct 1860 in Bexar County, Texas. After James Harvey Lyons died Belle remarried to widower Oscar Crawford and is buried with double headstone in Alamo Masonic Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas next to Oscar. Note: 1870 census James Harvey Lyons is found living with his 3rd wife Isabella (Belle) Cotton Lyons (shown as keeping house), a servant (Marietta), and a blacksmith living with him, still listed as Physician."
