Biography

Pierce Lyons was born in 1811 in the colony of New South Wales to two convicts who arrived early in the 19th century: John Lyons a Irish man from Tipperary who came on the Atlas in 1802; and Mary Page, who was from Worcestershire, England and was transported on the Experiment in November 1803 ^{[1] [2]}

In 1836, he is recorded as the father of a child born to Mary Ann (Little) Cross named Thomas Little Lyons, with Mary Ann's surname listed as his middle name. ^[3]. ^[4] However, it appears that Pierce had a very minor if any role in this child's life. In 1837, he officially married a woman named Sarah Crummy in Parramatta ^[5]. Thomas, his son, would later go on to take the name of Mary Ann Little's husband, Cross.

There is some speculation that Pierce's marriage to Sarah Crummy may have borne children, however, no records have been found for these births, so they have not been included on this profile at this stage.

Pierce Lyons died in 1870 in Parramatta, NSW. ^{[6] [7]}
