Biography

Interesting fact:' My mother's sister Miriam Eileen (known as Eileen ) Vidler married Alf Lyons and had a son Richard, then after Eileen's death in 1952, because of the family link through Mum, my father's sister Margaret Hathaway married Alf, so he was my uncle by marriage on both sides of my family.

Alfred Charles (Alf) Lyons was born on 21 July 1912 in New South Wales, Australia ^[1], the son of Alfred Lyons and Annie Hamel. His mother, Annie, died six days after Alf's birth on 27 July 1912^[2].

Alf married Miriam Eileen (Eileen) Vidler on 28 February 1942 in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia ^[3]and they had one son, Richard Lyons. Unfortunately, Eileen died from a heart attack on 29 July 1952 when she was only 38 years old and leaving Alf with a 9-year-old son to care for. Her sister had married William (Bill) Hathaway in 1950 and Alf had met Bill's sister Margaret at family events.

He married Margaret Jean Hathaway on 5 January 1857 at Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia^[5]. They had no children but Margaret helped bring up Alf's and Eileen's son, Richard.

Alf died on 13 August 1998 in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia ^[6] and he was cremated at the Pine Grove Crematorium, Great Western Highway, Eastern Creek, New South Wales, Australia ^[7].
