Gertrude was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Charles Lyons. She was born in Willsboro, New York. In 1920 she and her mother were working as cooks in a hotel in Harrietstown, New York, owned by the Charles Warden family. Ted Peete was working there as a teamster. Is this where a romance started? She married Theodore Peete in 1924. She was survived by a step daughter, so this may have been a second marriage for him. He also survived her at the time of her death. She died in the hospital in Saranac Lake, New York. Burial was made in the Brighton Cemetery, in Gabriels, New York in the spring.
