Eleanor Lytle was born on July 15, 1734, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, to Nathaniel, was 24, and Janet, 20. She married Matthew Brown in 1760 in Northumberland, Pennsylvania. They had eight children. She died on August 9, 1814, in Lycoming, Pennsylvania, at the home of her son William Brown and her remains were buried beside those of her husband, whom she survived 37 years.
