Fred Miller was born in 1861 in Germany and originally named Friedrich David Müller. As an infant he immigrated to the United States with his parents about 1868. They were listed in the 1870 census at Cleveland, Ohio with the surname written Miller.

Fred married Ellen Eliza Clezie in 1890 but the marriage certificate oddly showed her name as "Nellie L. Clezie". My father called the couple Uncle Fred and Aunt Nell. They had nine children born between 1890-1910, eight of whom lived to adulthood.

Fred passed away in 1938, a few months before his 77th birthday. [1]
