Welcome to the Global Family Reunion Project! Be sure to check out the project page to see some of what we do, our To-Do list which has folks who need help finding their connection to AJ or more family added to make future connections easier, and please add the Global_Reunion tag to your G2G feed. We also have a fun Google+ Community to share fun finds and chat in. To put the Steps to AJ template on your profile, follow the instructions here. Thanks for joining us!
Photographs do not import with a GEDCOM because it's a text only file
(unfortunately!).
Geni, I think, doesn't allow you to import selectively. I could be wrong
about that though. If they do, awesome. If not, you might want to look at
free software like RootsMagic or Legacy. You could download your GEDCOM
from Geni and uploaded it to one of those two programs and you'd then be
able to split it into small segments. That's definitely the way to go.
And yes, once you start building up on WikiTree, you can invite interested
family to help. There are also lots of ways to share what you're adding to
WikiTree on social media if you're into that!
Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include Smith and any other tag terms that you wish to follow on the GenealogistToGenealogist (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following
