Biography

James MacArthur is Notable.

Adopted son of Charlie MacArthur and Helen Hayes. James is reported to be the biological son of Charlie and a woman he had an affair with, but there is a lack of documentation on this relationship.

He starred in the 1960 Disney film Swiss Family Robinson along with: John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, Janet Munro, Sessue Hayakawa, Tommy Kirk, Kevin Corcoran, Cecil Parker, Andy Ho, Milton Reid, Larry Taylor.

James is famous for his roles in television and movies, but is most remembered for his role as Dan Williams (Danno) on the 1970's Hawaii Five-O television series. James was first married to Joyce Bulifant. They married in 1958 and divorced in 1967. They had 2 children together, Charles and Mary (MacArthur) McClure.

James died of cancer on October 28, 2010, at the age of 72, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He was survived by his third wife, former LPGA golfer Helen Beth Duntz, as well as four children (Charles P. MacArthur, Mary McClure, Juliette Rappaport, and James D. MacArthur),[4] and seven grandchildren.

The episode "Ho'apono" from the 2010 version of Hawaii Five-0 was dedicated to MacArthur.
