Biography

Occupation: crofter and ferryman. From 1841 census he appears to be in Altnaharie aged 75 with wife Barbara aged 65 and sons Malcolm 30,Kenneth 20 and Alex 9. Alex could well be a grandson. Note: was a retainer or tacksman to Mackenzie of Dundonnell and given the sinecure of the ferry at Altnaharrie. The Altnaharrie Inn was the apparent residence of the Ferryman.

May have had another son Roderick married to Ann Graham at Killearnan on 10 February 1837 with son Donald, daughter Margaret and daughter Rodina. These children are stated to be aged 12, 10 and 7 in the 1851 census and residing along with their maternal grandfather Donald Graham, his wife, their mother(his daughter) and other children in Achiltibuie. Roderick is stated to have been a cattle dealer and died in the 1840's
