Christina "Kirsty" Macdonald, daughter of Alexander Macdonald and Christina MacQueen, was born in about 1792 in Cnoc an Torran (Knockintorran), North Uist, Scotland.[1][2][3][4] Her father was a farmer.[3]
In 1825, Kirsty married Malcolm MacCuish, son of Neil MacCuish and Ann Macdonald, of Baile Sear (Baleshare), in North Uist.[3][4][5][1][2] Malcolm became a crofter and they settled on Croft #8 in Heisgeir (Heisker), North Uist and had several children:[4][1][2]

As of the date of the 1851 Census, Kirsty was living in Heisgeir with Malcolm and their three children.[1] Malcolm's occupation was recorded as Chelsea Pensioner.[1]
As of the date of the 1861 Census, she was living in Heisgeir with Malcolm and their son Alexander, plus a 17 year old domestic servant named Chirsty McInnes.[2] Alexander had become a lobster fisherman.[2] Their house had two rooms with windows.[2]
Kirsty died at the age of 89 years at 11 a.m. on September 27, 1879 in Heisgeir.[3][4] Her cause of death was recorded as debility from old age, which had lasted for 3 days.[3] The informant for her death was her son, Alexander.[3]
