Biography

Michael was born on 27 Jun 1855 in Mount Young, Inverness, Nova Scotia. He was the son of John "Iain Post" MacDonald and Margaret Beaton. His name is styled "Micheil Iain Post" because he was the son of John "Iain Post" MacDonald, who carried the mail on foot with his three brothers in the early days of Inverness.

Michael married Margaret Ann Beaton on 19 Feb 1895 in Mabou, Inverness, Nova Scotia. They had five children together and adopted one child.
