Biography

Bessie Anemore MacDonald was born 17 May 1926 on the family farm in the Bobtail District, north of Ponoka, Alberta. She was the daughter of Peter MacDonald and Sarah Severance. ^[1] She is listed there with her parents and siblings in the 1926 Canada Census of the Prairie Provinces.^[2] In 1927, the family relocated to the town of Ponoka, where Bessie grew up and attended school.

Bessie married Francis Louis McNeil in Ponoka, 29 August 1948. ^[3] Bessie and Frank settled in Edmonton where 2 sons were born, Peter Louis in 1951 and James Douglas in 1952.^[1]

Following Frank's early passing in 1976, Bessie married Bill Melenka in Edmonton, 10 February 1978.^[1] Bessie and Bill remained in Edmonton until Bill's passing, 19 October 2004.

Bessie spent her final years in St. Alberta, Alberta where she passed away 30 December 2016.
