Biography

Great Great Granny Dinah (MacDougall) Walker (aka Montardi) is in direct descent from the royal house of the MacDougall Lords of Lorne who descend from King Dugal who is the eldest son of the great Somerled Thane of the Scottish Isles & Somerled's betrothen cousin Princess Ragnhild or Raghnild the daughter of Olaf King of Man & the Scottish Isles.

As a young maiden, she emigrated from Scotland to South Australia in the early 1870's & was placed in the employ of Government House in Adelaide South Australia, Australia. (apparently she was also the governess looking after the governor's offspring & other offspring within Government House S.A.?)

Great Great Grandfather Johvanna Batiste Montardi, emigrated from Corsica to South Australia in the early 1870s, and there he changed his name to his anglicized name, Charles Joseph Walker.

By this name he was employed as the cook at Government House in Adelaide S.A. which is where he met & fell in love with our Great Great Grandmother, Dinah MacDougall.

They both resigned their positions at Government House, and relocated to Port Pirie South Australia in 1879, where they married, and lived and raised their family.
