Margaret Catherine was born about 1890. [1] She meet her husband Robert Irvine BELL during World War 1, while in Egypt where she was nursing . He was a NZ soldier (of Scottish birth) and they probably meet when Robert was admitted to hospital when he was wounded during the battle at the Dardanelles. Robert was invalided home to NZ in Aug 1917 and Margaret also came to NZ around that time. They together returned to Gisborne 16 Oct 1917. On the 24th Oct 1917, Margaret was accidently drowned during a boating accident at Waikanae Beach. Margaret Catherine BELL is buried in the Taruheru Cemetery, Gisborne - Block Sec 1; Plot 422. She was aged 27yrs and had only been in NZ 10 days.
