John was born about 1785, possibly on the Isle of Muck where his children were born. He passed away before 1828.

- Sources are weak for this person. He is assumed to be of similar age to his wife who was born about 1788 and she was a widow when she and their three children came to Nova Scotia in 1828. Her youngest child was born in 1810 so it is probably that John died sometime between 1809 and 1828.
