Biography

Moray was born in 1853, the son of Charles Edward Stuart MacLean and Elizabeth Grace Wilmer Finnis. He was born at Juniper Green April 9 1853. Moray was baptised the following month at Colinton, Edinburghsire on May 21 1853 by the Rev Lachlan MacLean, Minister of Liff & Benvie. Witnesses were Angus McDonald and Jane Lang. Jane was to become Moray's aunt the following year when she married Alexander Brunton MacLean.

Moray attended school up to age of 17. After his father's death the family moved to Stanwix, Cumberland and Eliza had become head of the house. Sister Christina also lived with them. By 1881, Moray was working as a Bankers Clerk and living in Edgbaston, Warwickshire with his mother, grandmother and Christina.

In 1890 Moray was named as Executor of his Uncle Donald Kennedy MacLean's Will. Donald died in 1890 in Birmingham.

Moray was resident at 29 Speedwell Road, Edgbaston between 1888 and 1892 Ref : UK, City and County Directories, 1766 - 1946.

His Aunt Christina (nee MacLean) Simms' children were visiting from Newfoundland. In 1901.

Moray was employed as an Insurance Agent.

He never married, remaining with Eliza, and in 1902 Moray died age 46, at Worcestershire, England. His Will was proved on June 11 and administration granted to his sister, widow Christina Mary St Clair Wilson.

Moray died just a month after his mother Eliza (nee Finnis) MacLean.

Moray Gordon MacLean is buried at Warstone Cemetery, Birmingham. [1]
