There has been some discussion over the parentage of Neil Mor. Most agree he is a grandson of John Abrach 3rd of Coll. He was the military leader of Coll after the death of Hector Roy MacLean in 1593.[1] Neil lived at Benmolach, on the north-west side of Mull. He was attacked by 24 armed men sent by Lachlan Mar. They chased him and eventually killed him at a place known today as Clachan Dubh.
