Margaret was the daughter of the Rev. Donald MacLeod, Ill. of Greshornish, and minister of Duirinish and Anne MacLean, his wife.
Margaret was only sixteen years old when she married a twice widowed, 75 year old, Donald MacLeod of Bernera. The marriage took place about 1768. They had issue, three sons and six daughters giving Donald a total of 26 children.[1]
