Research Notes

The MacLeods of Raasay descend from Malcolm, Ninth Chief of the Lewes who, about 1510, gave his second son, Malcolm, called Calum Garbh, (‘Rough’ Malcolm), the islands of Raasay and Rona, and the lands of Coigeach and Gairloch on the mainland. Alexander, was the ninth chief Macleod of Raasay.

One source says wife, Jane’s father was, Of Riggs, Isle of Skye and one says, Of Totaroam in Trotternish.
