Andrew left behind his wife, and two sons, Herbert (23) and Edwin (19).
His son, Edwin Leon Machell, petitioned for letters of administration on the 28th of April 1921. He named the heirs of Andrew as Wanda (Machell) Mueller, Herbert Machell (24) and himself, Edwin Machell (21).
The petition was based on the fact that, after searches had been conducted, it was concluded that Andrew had not left any will and testament, and that his father had died intestate.
Edwin's petition was successful (after missing one hearing) and he was appointed administrator of his father's estate on the 20th of March 1922. [6]
Probate was granted on the 27th of September 1919. [7]
