Biography

Emily Machin and George Frederic Austin, Provincial Surveyor, both of the City of St Hyacinthe, were married at the Anglican Church, St Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada on April 20, 1858.[1]

The Census of Canada, 1871 shows that Emily Austin, her husband George and their children, William Edward and Alfred were living at Wellington Ward, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This census records that Emily was born in England. Her age is recorded as 38 years and her calculated date of birth is 1832/1833. Her religion was Church of England and her origin English.[2]

The Census of Canada, 1891 shows that father, George Frederic Austin, and mother, Emily F were living with their son, William E at Davisburgh, Alberta, Territories, Canada. Also living with them was their farm labourer, Ernest Edna Wilson. This census records that Emily was born in England, her father born in England and her mother born in Scotland. Her age is recorded as 59 years. Her calculated date of birth is 1831/1832. Her religion was Church of England.[3]

The Census of Canada, 1901 shows that Emily F, her husband, George F and their son Edward William were living at Okotoks, Alberta, The Territories, Canada. This census records that Emily's date of birth was January 5, 1836, was born in England and was 65 years of age. Emily was naturalized in 1859. Her origin was English, her nationality was Canadian and her religion was the Church of England.[4]

The Census of Canada, 1906 shows that Emily F , her husband, George F and their son William Edward were living near Okotoks, Alberta, Canada. This census records that Emily was born in Scotland and was 71 years of age. Also living at their residence was A M Chalmers, hired man and M E Ainslie, companion. [5]
