Per the Timaru Herald: THOMSON - MACHIN. On the 15th May , at the house of the bride's father, by the Rev. T. B. Hallowes, John Thomson, third son of William Thomson, of Elgin, Scotland, to Annie,  eldest daughter of Thomas Machin, architect, Timaru.
Date to be confirmed: Some time between 1882 & 1889, Thomas’s daughter, Clara & husband Hugh move to Beverly a small farming community in Western Australia [about 100 kilometres east of Perth]… As in 1898: Clara dies: [this per the Western Mail, Perth, WA] Monday 14 March 1898: Death of Mrs. H. F. Edmiston. - The wife of Mr. H. F. Edmiston, who is well known in connection with the farming industry in the Beverley district, succumbed, after a protracted and painful illness, on Friday last, in Perth. The deceased lady had a large circle of friends in the Beverley district, whose respect she had won by virtue of her social qualities and charitable nature. Her remains were conveyed to their last resting-place in the Perth Presbyterian Cemetery on Friday, Mr. D. J. Chipper carrying out the funeral arrangements.
Hugh goes on to remarry a Jane Nelson on 14th September 1898, they are to have three children.
