Biography

1866: Charles is born, location is assumed as Christchurch?

1876: Charles was admitted to Timaru Main School.

1882: Last day [School] Dec 15th. --> Destination - Slaters Drapery...

Later Occupation

Bricklayer
1895: Charles, employed as a bricklayer dies [in a work related accident] in Wellington New Zealand at just 29 years of age. His Will states that he is half owner of about 10 acres of land at Yuroke [that is about 25 kilometres north of Melbourne] his brother Harry is nominate administrator of the will.

At the Inquest on the body of Charles Machin, who was killed by a fall of earth in a tunnel on the Wellington drainage works, a verdict of accidental death was returned.
Three jurymen expressed the opinion that the tunnel should be ex­amined every morning before the men resumed work.
