Alexander was born about 1814. He was baptized at West Harnham in Wiltshire. His parents were James and Hester Mack.[1]
On April 16, 1845 Alexander Mack married Phoebe Martin at West Harnham, Wiltshire.[2]
In 1851 Alexander and Phoebe Mack were living on Bollers Street in Landport, Portsea Island with their two children: Alex (4) and Eliza (2). Alexander was a seaman, dock work.[3]
In 1861 the family, which had grown to 5 children, were living on Coxwell Street in Landport. Alexander was employed as a rigger.[4]
