Biography

John was the third child of Jacob and Nancy Moser Mack. John grew to manhood in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He worked with his father Jacob in the mill. He was a member of the German Baptist Church as it was called in those days. John spoke fluent German like his father.

John's sense of adventure led him to be the first to investigate the new territory opening up west of the Ohio River.

John Mack likely came to Ohio in the year 1832 settling on a farm to the northwest of where his father Jacob Mack settled in Licking County, Ohio. John spent the rest of his life on this farm.
