Hiram known as H. P. was born in 1879 in Hastings, Ontario.[1][2]
Hiram initially came to Manitoba in 1900 to do some harvest work with three of his brothers. All but he returned to Ontario. Hiram continued working for Billy Wilson at Marringhurst. He was joined the following year by his parents and all of his siblings except Judson.
He married Alice Sandercock on July 8, 1903, in the RM of Louise.[3] Together they raised a family of seven children. The eldest, Irene, died at age 12, and a daughter Evelyn died in infancy.
The couple farmed in the Crystal City district until 1940 when they moved into town. During their time in town, Hiram worked for a time with F. B. Lynes in the hardware store, was town constable for a time, and did exterior painting until the age of 80!
Alice and Hiram lived in their own home until October of 1969, when they moved into Tabor Home in Morden.
He passed away in 1970. He is buried in Crystal City Cemetery in Crystal City, Manitoba.[4]
