Biography

Betsy Mackay was born on April 18, 1809, in Torroble, Sutherland, the child of John Mackay and Christena Munro. She married John Matheson on February 14, 1829. She died on June 4, 1897, in Oxford, Ontario, having lived as a widow for 36 years Betsy, husband John Matheson and children, left Scotland for Canada in 1832, a year after her father John Mackay and his family did
