Biography

He is first noticed in Ferguson's work[1] in the Marriage Register of the Scots Brigade when he appears in a contract of marriage, 4 August 1738 at Tournai, now in Wallonia, Belgium, but then part of the United Netherlands, between himself, stated to be a Corporal of James Grahame's Company, and Anne Abrams, stated to be a maid to the same officer. The witnesses to the Contract were Sergeant Hugh Wright and George Pratt.
