Biography

Ùisdean Mackay was born about 1755 in Durness, Sutherland, Scotland ^[1] (likely Skerray) to Eachann Mackay of Achunlochie and possibly Margaret Gunn of unknown parentage.

The birth records of his children all attest to his forebears in his patronymic; 'Hugh Mackay or MacEachin IcDhol icEachain Skerray': son of Hector, son of Donald, son of Hector.

Hugh married Barabal Moireastan (Morison) of Cnocbreac, Durness, possibly a daughter of Donald Morison and Isobel Sinclair, on 13 February 1782 in Durness, Sutherland, Scotland. ^[2]
