Birth

Durness Parish records began in 1764. Robert Mackay first appeared in the written records of Durness Parish as the groom in a wedding in 1770. Assuming that he was at least 18 years old, his date of birth was probably before 1752.

Robert Mackay of Uaibeg and Marion Clarke of Cnockbreack were married on 13 June 1770 in Durness Parish, Sutherland, Scotland. ^[1]

At the present time no source has been found to document the passing of Marion Clarke. However, the Durness Parish records show that Robert Mackay married his second wife in 1777, four years after the birth of his daughter Christian Mackay.
