Thomas married Ann Laird on November 29, 1872 in Inverarity, Forfarshire, Scotland. The statutory register includes the following details: Thomas Mackie, ploughman, widower, 44, married Ann Laird, agricultural laborer, spinster, 30, daughter of George Laird, farmer, and Margaret Laird maiden name Grant.[3]
Thomas died January 14, 1915 at the Royal Infirmary in Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland. The statutory record confirms he was married first to Catharine Nicoll and later to Ann Laird. He was a farmer at the time of his death, possibly in Monkie, aged 86.[4]
