OBITUARY. PASTORALIST'S DEATH. The Late Mr. A. J. MacLeod. Mr. Alexander John MacLeod, managing director for the Minilya Pastoral Co., died early yesterday afternoon at a private hospital in West Perth, at the age of 44 years. He was operated on a few days ago for a sudden illness, but his death was quite unexpected. The late Mr. MacLeod was born at Portland, Victoria, but since early boyhood had resided in this State. His father, the late Mr. Donald MacLeod, was a prominent pastoralist, and his mother, who before her marriage, was Miss Charlotte Bussell, was a member of an old family of the State. He served in the war with the 8th Battalion, Field Artillery, A.I.F., and reached the rank of sergeant. He was unmarried. The funeral will take place at the Karrakatta cemetery today at 3.30 p.m. The service will be conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon C. L. Riley.
