Biography
Thomas was born in 1731 to Joseph Macy and Hannah Hobbs.[1]
He married Mary Starbuck, daughter of Tristram and Deborah (Coffin) Starbuck, in 1755; they had no children.[2]
Research Notes
An earlier version of this profile listed the date of death as 1 Feb 1833, in Guilford, North Carolina, United States. However, no source for the information was provided and there is evidence that Thomas died much earlier, before 1767. In that year, Mary Starbuck, identified as the widow of Thomas Macy, married a second husband. (See profile Starbuck-335.) Therefore, Thomas probably died around 1766 or earlier, while still living on Nantucket.
Some sources state that Thomas and Mary (Starbuck) Macy left Nantucket for New Garden in North Carolina in 1773.[2][3] However, that appears to be irreconcilable with the aforementioned marriage record of Mary Starbuck.
