Biography

Michael was born in Ireland, probably about 1760, because according to the notes of Amos Doane, he had been an Irish Ranger in the American Revolution. In 1785, he received a land grant of 100 acres at Cape Negro Point, Shelburne County, as a Loyalist. This land was escheated (reverted back to the Crown) in 1819, probably because he had died.

Michael married Isabella Sinclair on 10 August 1789 in Shelburne. She drowned while crossing the harbor near Michael's Point, Cape Negro, in a boat about 1793. There is no evidence that they had any children.

Michael married Catherine Oxendine on 22 October 1794 at Shelburne. They lived in Barrington. They had 7 children together, the last, Martha, born after Michael's death.

Michael died in 1809 upon falling from a large rock where he was watching his sons eeling. He left his wife a cow and some sheep.
