Biography

Embley was born in 1766. Shee passed away in 1806. [1]

Named in Father's will - 1777 Will of Ignatius Maddox of CC. Dated 19 Jan 1777, probated 3 Mar 1777. To wife Sarah Maddox, executrix, estate real and personal during widowhood except some legacies hereafter mentioned but with the reserve that she shall not hinder any of my sons from settling on the lands provided they leave land sufficient for her use during her widowhood. Tract called Talfords Passion after death or marriage of wife Sarah to son Ignatius Lamberth Maddox but in default of ____ I give said lands to son Samuel Maddox and in default of ____ above lands to be equally divided among my surviving sons hereafter named. I give all my lands except Talfords Passion to be equally divided between my sons after named and the child which my wife is now with should be a boy, that is to my son Samuel and Benjamin Wheeler, Noe and Allison Maddox. To my dau Rellea Maddox negro girl Mille after the death of my wife. Also one cow and calf, one feather bed and furniture and two lambs and ewes. One half of the increase of two negro girls names Sarah and Henne to be equally divided among my daus after named and the child my wife is now going with should it be a girl. Daughters Embly Maddox, Athelia Maddox, Parthenia Maddox, Clarinda Maddox. To son Samuel Maddox a mare called Molly provided he gives up his horse named Lyon to his mother. To friend Elizabeth Robertson four ewes and lambs, one cow and calf to be delivered at my death. To Richard Robertson a bond. To son Benjamin Wheeler Maddox use of young mare until he arrives to age 21 years then to my daus. To son Allison Maddox use of young mare until he arrives to age 21 years then to my daus. Maddox-2554 and Maddox-823 do not represent the same person because: Back a month ago, Embley was being confused as "Hendley," so I thought that they should be merged. Then I did more research and found out that she was a woman. I'm the one who bolded her name in her father's will. I thought I had canceled that merge.
