WEDDING
STANLEY--MADGWICK
A quite wedding was celebrated on Saturday, May 25, in the Methodist Church, Glen Innes, the contracting party being Gladys, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Madgwick of Glen Innes, and Mel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley, of Armidale. Rev A.S. Bohanna was the celebrant. The church was prettily decorated by the Misses Grover. As the bride entered the church on the arm of her father, the choir sang, "The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden." The bride was daintily gowned in white ring velvet, relieved with pale pink, and wore the customary veil and wreath of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of arum lilies and cactus dahlias. As the registry was being signed, Mrs. Chaloner sang, "Because," Miss Grace Williamson, wearing a green Jersey cloth, with white felt hat, and white fur, was bridesmaid and she carried a bouquet of pink and cream stocks. Mr. R.S. Brazier was the best man. The reception was held at Bickle's Cafe, where the bride's mother, wearing a navy coat and skirt carrying a posy of primitive stocks, received the guests. Mrs. Stanley, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy costume. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley left by car for Grafton enroute to Sydney and the Blue Mountains. The bride travelled in hautier (?) blue ring velvet with hat and shoes to tone. The wedding cake was made by Mrs Porter of Tweed Heads, a sister of the bride, and was decorated by Mr A. Bickle.
