Maria Antonia Maes married Sebastian Cruz on 30 Oct 1854 at Nuestra Senora De Los Dolores, Arroyo Hondo,Taos, New Mexico.[4]
Residence
In 1860, Maria Antonia Maes, age 25, lived in Culebra, Taos Territory, New Mexico Territory, United States, with her husband, Sebastian Cruz, age 30; and their two children: Jaun C. Cruz, age 4; and Prisciliana Cruz, age 1.[5]
In 1870, Maria Antonia, age 25, kept house for her family and lived in Cucharas, Huerfano, Colorado Territory, with her husband, Sebastian Cruz, age 35; who was a farmer; and their children: Preciliano Cruz, age 8; Nicolas Cruz, age 7; Juana Maria Cruz, age 5; and Juan Bautista Cruz, age 3.[6]
In 1880, Maria Antonia, age 50, kept house and lived with her husband, Sebastian Cruz, age 56, a farmer and lived in Huerfano, Colorado, with their children: Preciliano Cruz, age 19; Nicolas Cruz, age 17; Juana Maria Cruz, age 15; and Juan Bautista Cruz, age 10.[7]
In 1885, Maria Antonia, age 65; lived in Huerfano, Colorado, with her husband, Sebastian Cruz, a farmer; and their children: Nicholas Cruz, age 23 ; Juan Bautista Cruz, age 16; along with his daughter, Juana Maria Cruz, age 19. Maria Antonia and Sebastian lived just one door down from Sebastian's younger brother, Mariano Cruz, and his family.[8]
Death
It is presumed that Maria Antonia died sometime after 1885 in Huerfano County, since she was not listed again in the 1900 Census, or in any census thereafter. No death record has been found.
Research Notes
The 1880 Census lists her age and her husband's to be in their 50's. It is a reminder that census ages are often inaccurate.
