Biography

Henry was born about 1760 - 1770. He passed away in 1815.

Research Note:
  • On the 1800 Census, Henry (I assume our Henry) is on the same page in Sparta, New York as a William McGee/Magee. That William's Find a Grave has a great profile, where it says Wm and two brothers, Harry and Charles, came from County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1784, landing in Philadelphia. They moved to Sparta c1796 (as per land records below) but after a few years, Harry bought land further north and moved to Bath in Steuben Co. New York. I need to see if there is a Harry Magee in Steuben Co., New York after our Henry moves to Canada. (Bath is actually 30 miles south of Sparta).
  • When he applied for land in 1806 he was in East Gwillimbury, Ontario (did he have family in the area?? There is a Charles Magee dying there in 1849, born 1767 in Cavan, Ireland - Find A Grave)
  • Son William is in Usborne, Huron County, Ontario, where another Magee family is - George Magee. So had thought that George was another son, but he is not named in Henry's Will. Or possibly could have the wrong William Magee hooked here.
  • FYI: Sparta, Ontario, New York is less than 100 miles to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
