Biography

William McGehee was the son of William McGehee (1702) of Virginia not William McGee of Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He did not die in Duplin County, North Carolina in 1771 as he is found in the Spotsylvania County, Virginia records as late as 1799.[1] [2] William was married to Ann Scuddy as evident by records found in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He was named trustee of Ann's younger brothers, John and Augustine Edwards Scuddy in 1787.[3]

William McGehee Jr and his father William McGehee (b.1702) witnessed a deed for Francis Meriwether on 23 Jan 1764 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.[4] William's sister married John Meriwether, the son of Francis Meriwether, in Louisa County, Virginia on 15 Apr 1771.[5]

Again, this is not the William McGee/Magee that married Ann Moore and lived in Edgecombe and Duplin County, North Carolina.
