When Jewel Dean Maggard was born on 30 March 1927, in Douglas, Missouri, United States, her father, Enoch Maggard, was 22 and her mother, Delpha Williams, was 17. She married Earnest Russell Butler from 1940 to 1942. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. She lived in Buchanan Township, Douglas, Missouri, United States for about 5 years and Republic, Greene, Missouri, United States for about 1 years. She died on 28 December 1998, in Harrisburg, Poinsett, Arkansas, United States, at the age of 71, and was buried in Bolivar Cemetery, Harrisburg, Poinsett, Arkansas, United States.
