Daughter of Marina Magnani; possibly the daughter of Francesco Del Duc[1] or Pietro Del Duce[2] - though other sources say she didn't know his name and he was possibly from Egypt instead of Calabria

Wife of Goffredo Alessandrini

Had a son with actor Massimo Serato in 1942 while she was still married but separated from her husband.

Her son contracted polio and lost the use of his legs and spent most of his life in a wheelchair. He eventually learned to use crutches/braces to walk.

Died of pancreatic cancer[2]

Won an Academy Award[3] and a BAFTA[3] for The Rose Tattoo in 1956/7. She did not accept her award in person as she didn't think she would win so she didn't attend. She won David de Donatello Awards[3] for Wild is the Wind in 1958 and Nella città l'inferno in 1959. She received a star on the walk of fame on 8 Feb 1960.[3][1]
